https://www.theredhandfiles.com/chat-gpt-what-do-you-think/ Nick Cave on ChatGPT: Songs arise out of suffering, by which I mean they are predicated upon the complex, internal human struggle of creation and, well, as far as I know, algorithms don’t feel. Data doesn’t suffer. ChatGPT has no inner being, it has been nowhere, it has endured nothing, it has not had the audacity to reach beyond its limitations, and hence it doesn’t have the capacity for a shared transcendent experience.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_nc1IVoMxc wow, this is the most unusual new music I have heard in a while. It's not really easy listening, but the guy is an absolute talent.
Self harm scars, content notes, personal
@doot@glitterkitten.co.uk I've had my own family tell me to cover up (admittedly very large skin graft) scars when my nieces came over. They meant no harm by it, but it's just one of many such casual comments that cuts deep, then seems to sink in even deeper. Anyway, fuck whoever said that to you. I hope they are blocked, and you are not too hurt by their ignorance. Keep doing what you do.
@boysmithers just become an insomniac. I've got the opposite problem, I rarely have enough quality content to get me through the night.
At some point during the Dark Years, I realized that I had lost my sense of wonder. I came to see that wonder does not abide companionably alongside outrage. My (well-deserved) outrage had cost me my sense of wonder, and I was devastated. It has gradually returned, and I realized today that what I’m experiencing here is the full-on return of wonder. I’m absolutely reveling in it every day when I see and share art and photos and good-natured humor and community. Just wow. #Mastodon
